Mungindi Matters or ‘The Matters’ as it’s locally known is a newsletter that has been keeping people informed and connected with the Mungindi community and surrounds (including Boomi, Garah and Thallon) for over 23 years. From humble beginnings, it now boasts an ever-growing readership with over 250 copies printed each fortnight for sale in Mungindi, and a subscription service that currently sends the paper to nearly every state in Australia.
Mungindi Matters celebrates all that is unique and local to the area, including regular columns from local Police, Doctors, Moree Plains Shire Council and schools. There is also a classifieds page, local employment opportunities and advertising.
Editor of the Mungindi Matters says the ‘Claim the Date’ page is one of the most popular features because it helps to keep the community aware of day to day happenings in the Mungindi district.
At a Council Meeting on 4 February 2013, Moree Plains Shire Council committed to donate $5000 to Mungindi Matters each year for the next 3 years.
This donation will be used to assist in keeping the paper in production and ensure that Council can contribute with fortnightly notices and other localised information including waste management, library and pool opening hours.
